Mesmerizing

Atmospheric, mysterious, thrilling.

Cornejo Villavicencio, Karla,

Amazing

This book is amazing. The best I’ve read in such a long long time. It ‘ll make you laugh, cry and get angry. It doesn’t make US Latinx humans, it makes the reader human through a roller coaster of emotions. Karla did not take the people she interviewed for the book out of a “faceless brown mass” and gave them voices; she takes our wireless headphones out of ears, and make us listen to our surroundings. We don’t live in a bubble. Undocumented migrants and their loved ones have always been there but we have chosen to listen to something else. Something cheerier that won’t ask us to feel or take responsibility for our privilege. She said no more. And I thank her for that from the bottom of my heart.

Tawfik al-Hakim ; translated by Abba Eban ; foreword by P.H. Newby.

Hilarious..

Kafka meets Naguib Mahfouz. Absurd, creative, hilarious and deep. A peek into Egyptian culture and based on author’s own experience as a prosecutor in a small village.

Original, Great Narrative

It is a very strange novel, bordering in the absurd but it’s creative and with a masterful command of narrative.

Eclectic & Entertaining

This is a collection of short stories, poetry and essays written by British Muslim women. It includes pieces by famous authors and also new comers. It was very entertaining. I really recommend it.
