I made it 50 pages before wanting to slit my wrists

The absolute very worst writing I can remember. Every cliche and ridiculous ideas. A teenager who beats Nobel prize winners by gene splicing experiments in his bedroom. A soldier named Alice who says "you can all me Al. " I will get sued by Paul Simon for copyright infringement." Can't make this up and there is much worse writing throughout this. Absolutely one of the worst I have ever tried to read

Such a promising idea....

Skip the first 100 pages because he suffers from Stephen King disease - mistakes sheer volume of words for plot and characterization. A really good idea in a Bigfoot clan runs into a weekend getaway after a volcano drives them toward civilization. A few peripheral allusions to urban chaos in the Washington state cities.The character types and personalities have zero impact on the story. The thread running through it is it keeps referencing a diary left by one of the campers. The part after the first 100 pages is pretty good.
